Meet Lefty

Felix "Lefty" Otto joined our household Friday, March 1st after an impromptu stop at the Boulder Humane Society. We had been talking about getting a dog for awhile and our recent trip to Ohio and all the special doggy friends we spent time with there made us feel the time was right. We fell for Lefty and his low key disposition and fancy markings right away and we are growing more and more enamored with him each day! Ben and I have been playing "name that mutt" and have decided that there is a good deal of Basenji in him. He has the white Basenji markings, slight curl to his tail and ears that stick straight up (before they flop over!) He also very rarely barks. As to what else might be contributing we're sort if at a loss, though we discovered today that he has webbed toes which helps narrow it down a bit. We've considered boxer, pit bull, German shepherd, etc. but mostly ruled them out and are now thinking maybe Lab, Chinook, Catahoula Leopard etc. Lefty visited the vet today and got a clean bill of health and a gold star for his manners. He is three months old and expected to be around 50 pounds. He's making great progress with potty and leash training and responds to sit, no, and down. Overall, I guess you could say we got super lucky on our last minute drop in at the Humane Society and we are thrilled to have Mr. Lefty Lou join our family!
